Animals and Health
It has been established that people who own pets live longer, have
less stress, and have fewer heart attacks.
It has been proven in countless studies that having an animal can
lead to all sorts of health promoting results, such as reducing
blood pressure, decreasing stress, and adding years to your life.
To some this may come as a surprise, but to anyone who has woke
up on a sleepy Sunday morning to a cuddly puppy, the health benefits
of a pet come as no surprise. What is it that makes pets have these
effects on us? Is it a needed feeling we get from caring for the
critter, or is it the unconditional love they give us? I think one
thing animals give us is the ability to shift our mindset and outlook
from one state to another. When I'm stressed, one look at the big
wrinkly face and droppy eyes of Zoey
(the Whole Longevity mascot dog) and my worries are left behind
and I can't help but have a big smile on my face. So when asked
what animals give us...........they give us the ability to forget
our worries and smile.
Animal health tip of the week
Be careful when changing antifreeze this winter. Many antifreezes
are a
deadly poison to dogs, cats, (and children).
