You're in luck, the protective compounds
in red wine, called proanthocyandins, are also present in
grape juice. The proanthocyandins are responsible for the
color of both red wine and grape juice. Studies have found
that these compounds help keep the platelets in the blood
from becoming activated and sticking to artery walls, which
can contribute to heart disease. Wine has been shown to increase
HDL, the bodies 'good' cholesterol, but aerobic exercise is
also great at raising HDL, along with increasing overall cardiovascular
health.
